Trees are the unsung heroes of our planet. Unfortunately, they are taken for granted by the ones they protect with their existence, and that’s us humans. We all know that trees are the ones that provide oxygen and food for all of us. However, we are just barely scraping the surface regarding how essential trees are in our lives.
Here are why trees are important and
why we should care about them.
Backyards, parks, playgrounds, and streets with trees make these places more welcoming, peaceful, and simply beautiful. They give shade to those passing by and clean the air, giving people the fresh and cool winds they need for their strolls, picnics, and other park and outdoor activities.
Old trees in different parts of the world are considered historic landmarks, significant town symbols—such as wisdom and longevity--or something sacred. This shows that these old trees are a source of pride for the community, serving as somewhat of a guardian that oversaw life in that area all those years ago.
Trees have given us more than just oxygen, though providing us with that essential resource is already no small matter. Since ancient times, trees have been essential to man’s survival. They were a source of shelter, fire, and food. And now that we have evolved from our primitive ways, trees now give us even more than we got in the past. For example, derived from wood pulp, we get paper, from fruits to syrups and jams, barks to medicines, and plenty more.
A great home and property might give you the value you’re okay with. However, did you know you can boost those numbers and improve your property value in the market?
Research shows a significant increase in the value of one’s home when there’s a well-maintained yard, immaculate landscaping, and healthy trees and shrubs. However, don’t just
plant a sapling and start selling your property on the market. Consider it an investment since healthy and mature trees are needed to increase the value and salability of a property.
Trees not only provide oxygen for us, but they also act as filters for the air and water. Their leaves and roots remove dust and carbon dioxide from the air and pollutants from water so we get fresh and clean resources.
Trees also serve as our shields countless times from the harsh rays of the sun, heavy downpours of rain, and pelting sleet and hail. They also help preserve soil and control erosion. As their roots absorb water, reducing runoff during rain and storms, they also hold the soil in place, preventing it from being washed away.
Trees are a vital part of our lives and of the world. But trees are slowly decreasing by the day, whether from natural causes or man’s own doing. However, we can still do
something to protect and care for them as thanks for all the benefits that we are having because of them.
